Plans to cut traffic speed limits
Proposals to bring down speed limits in areas where there is a higher risk of accidents are expected to be announced by the government.
Reductions from 30mph to 20mph in urban locations and 60mph to 50mph in the countryside are being considered.
The measures are part of a new strategy to reduce road deaths in England and Wales through to 2020.

won't work because of idiots who want to drive fast will ,no matter what the speed limit.
there will always be someone who thinks they are cleverer then anyone else and thinks they can do what they like.

Re: Plans to cut traffic speed limits
itll cause more congestion, so we will need more roads, it alkready takes me 10 minutes more to skegness because of new speed restrictions.
my solution is a simple one - in every car is a receiver that reads the speed limit, and a transmitter is in every speed sign, the car cant exceed the limit. no more speeding tickets, speeding, or anything like this - ok needs thinking through and tweaking, but solves all probs! problem is the police will lose lots of money in fines so itll never happen.

Re: Plans to cut traffic speed limits
they should change all speed limits outside school gates to 20Mph but i agree that a blanket 20 would cause absolute chaos on already struggling roads, it is another one of those mad hat ideas that they never investigate fully and just impliment and sod the consequence
